Key Items Board

We were recently tasked to create a key items board for any of The Foschini Group's brands and also choose a theme for Autumn/Winter 2015/2016.
I chose Foschini and this was the board that I created:

*Please note this is not a real key items board for Foschini.

Fashion Flash

After a very long and busy week we finally got to enjoy the second years that created various outfits with the theme being: Culture Clash. My favourite cultures that they portrayed was; Anime, Goth/Rock and Bohemian. These are just a few pictures.

Mock-ups

So I have been quite absent for a while now, because I just finished with the most hectic few weeks ever!!!
We had to make our mock-ups of what our actual garments are going to look like.
I wouldn't say I was tooooo proud of all my looks, some of them were quite horrific, but I managed to hide that a bit with my crit, which went not too bad, they just told me things I already knew myself which was just to adjust some fitting issues and construction details that can be improve.
Unfortunately I didn't take any pictures of my Toiles, but I will as soon as I can.

Jinger Jack

We were recently briefed by the very successful bag company: Jinger Jack (jingerjack.co.za)
to design bags according to the themes they provide to us.
We could design anything, except that it had to be relevant to their current design styles and specifics.
We also had to name each of our designs and provide a short description of what it entails.
I generated my bags in Illustrator and then finished it off in Photoshop.

This is my proposal:
For the men I chose; DESERT TRIP.
My mood board and my two bags.

For the women I chose; ROAD TRIP.
My mood board and three bags.

We also had the opportunity to design a freestyle bag.
I decided to design a fanny pack/belt with a native american theme.

Male muse: Johnny Depp

Today I will be dedicating my post to Johnny Depp. Such a big inspiration to the styling and style of my male looks was thanks to Mr. Depp.
He's such a character and just plain COOL, there's just no two ways about it, I rate if you are not a fan of him it's either because you're a guy and your girl probably loves him or you are a guy and you are just jealous or you just don't like him and if that's the case....something is terribly wrong with you.
All jokes aside this guy is such a legend and everything he touches turns into magic, he's humble about his work and just an amazing person all around.

"May the wind always be on your back and the sun upon your face
and may the winds of destiny carry you aloft to
dance with the stars" - Johnny Depp

My Muse: Mary-Kate Olsen

Today I just want to dedicate a post to my muse, Mary-Kate Olsen. In a way I think that by now it is almost like old news that the Olsen sisters are inspiring to a variety of fashion designers in the world. Mary-Kate has truly left her mark in fashion, but that's not going to stop me from also raving on about how amazing and great she is. If I was batting for the other team I would stalk her non-stop.

I've always been inspired by her since I could remember. I remember watching New York Minute and begging my mom to buy me that maroon velvet outfit she was wearing at the end(I did manage to get the pointy shoes). All in all since then I've been following her every move and when we were tasked to select our muses for our collection, I didn't even have to think twice.

Her streetstyle is out of this world and she continues to impress. She's laid-back and cool about everything that she does.

I'm excited for many more Mary-Kate Olsen years to follow:)

LookBoard

I decided to create an original Moroccan print that I will use throughout my collection in my different looks. I generated my print on Illustrator and Photoshop.

Next on my list was to create a look board, which just indicates your designs your colour direction.
Our final collection must include 3 female looks and 2 male and then towards the end we will create our showstopper.

White in the Forest

Slowly but surely I'm starting to get a portfolio together of some of my favourite designs I have done so far. So this week I decided to get that going. With the help of Dirk van Niekerk as photographer, Crowning Glory for the flower crown and the very talented singer/songwriter Chantel Van T we put together a shoot in the Newlands forest.

A little bit about the design; our brief was to design for any of the Zodiac signs, me personally being a Scorpio I designed my conceptualized dress around the personalties of the people that falls under the zodiac sign but also concentrated on the physical built of a scorpio. Like for example his pinchers (I think that's what it's called) at the breast area. His layers on his body I showcased on the neck and the center back, but just to make it a bit more feminine and suiting I used mesh as my main fabric to get that flowing effect, I also used a lot of lace applique and lace shorts just to make it more appealing and feminine.

Not even joking there were soooooo many great shots I literally couldn't choose. So I could only decide on a minimum of 23 photos and nothing less. I'm pretty sure I still have to make it shorter to probably 5 photos or something for my portfolio aaaahhhhhhh #fashionproblems.
Enjoy!
And that's it for today folks!!
